How did you get started in the Hair industry?
My sister has been a hair dresser for 20+ years and showed me that I could make good money, have a flexible schedule, and have a career that I enjoy. I wanted this so I could have kids one day and be able to work and be a momma.

What are your 3 must-have hair products?

If you could have dinner with one person living or deceased, who would it be?
Jesus or Mary Magdalene

What’s your current favorite hair trend?
Dimensional color & shorter face frame layers

If you could style one celebrity’s hair, who would it be?
Carrie Underwood

Describe a typical day-in-your life?
Wow is all I can say. Lol I work 3 double-booked days & work with an assistant. When it’s a work day, I wake up at 6:30am. I get myself ready and then about 7:30 I get my 2 girls up and start their morning routines. I leave by 8am & take my first client at 9am. I normally do 2-4 extension clients and finish working around 5pm. Then I go back home to be wife and mommy which I love! I own 2 salons so days off are busy keeping up also, but it’s a blessing!

Do you have an inspiring role model or mentor?  What have you learned from them?
My cross country and basketball coaches from high school. Both Christian men who lead others and loved and nurtured their families. They taught me that to become good at something, it takes dedication, hard work, practice, and sacrifice. I learned that in life it is important to get out of my comfort zone to experience the most fullness.

What’s the one habit everyone can do to get better/healthier hair?
Use a heat protectant and lay off the heating tools.

Do you have any tips for artists starting out in the industry?
Try to find someone to mentor you that A: does what you want to do in the industry in the future and B: cares about other people.

What do you do to feel more inspired?
Educate myself, and help other stylists achieve their goals

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
“Others” Lord, help me live from day to day In such a self-forgetful way That even when I kneel to pray My prayer shall be for – Others.

Help me in all the work I do To ever be sincere and true And know that all I do for You Must needs be done for – Others.

And when my work on earth is done And my new work in heaven’s begun May I forget the crown I’ve won While thinking still of – Others.

Others, Lord, yes others, Let this my motto be; Help me to live for others That I may live like Thee.

A poem by Charles Meigs (written sometime between 1890 and 1902)

What’s been your proudest moment in the industry?
Opening my second salon location
